PCA offers individual voice lessons to adolescents, teens, and adults at any skill level from complete beginner to those with emerging skills or more advanced levels of experience. All lessons are conducted at our spaces at the Fitz Collaborative in Pepperell, MA

Dr. Alex Powell

Dr. Alex Powell is a tenor who has performed throughout North America and Europe. As a long-time member of the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus, he performed on numerous recordings and in live concerts at Boston’s Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall. He has sung with Philovox, Orpheus Singers, Boston Cecilia, and Boston Secession, and was a member of the London Symphony Chorus. 

 

In addition to his classical music career, Dr. Powell has experience in musical theater, jazz, country, bluegrass, and folk. He recorded background vocals and demos in Nashville for six years.

Dr. Powell earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory, a Master of Music from Belmont University, and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in History and Music from the University of Notre Dame.

With more than fifteen years of experience in college and conservatory administration, Dr. Powell is recognized as a national expert in college admissions in the performing arts. He has worked for the Cleveland Institute of Music, New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and the Longy School of Music of Bard College.

Gillian LaFosse

Gillian LaFosse is a K-12 licensed and certified music teacher and choir director. Her teaching spans numerous styles, eras, and genres, from Bach to Billie Eilish. 

 

Gillian earned her bachelor's degree in Music Studies and her master's degree in Music Education at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. She has performed in chamber groups, choirs, wind ensembles, a cappella, and currently gigs in her own bands across New England. 

 

In addition to her performances, Gillian has directed a cappella ensembles and served as music director for musical theater productions. 

 

If you only sing in the shower or can't stop humming your favorite song, Gillian believes you are capable of learning and performing, and will help you every step of the way!

Lessons Info

Cost & Scheduling

  • Vocal Instruction for students age 12-to-adult (younger students may be considered at instructor’s discretion)

  • $360 purchases 8 lessons @ 30min each, which can be renewed ongoing

  • Lessons take place in PCA classrooms at The Fitz

  • Payment will be collected by digital invoice, at the beginning of each 8-lesson term

  • Students will coordinate directly with instructors for days and times of lessons
